Tom Eltang: Natural Rusticated Arne Jacobsen Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-299-1441
Danish artisan Tom Eltang has over 40 years of experience in the pipe making world, his interest first sparked at only 6 years old when he noticed a pipe magazine through the window of a tobacco shop. Eltang holds an esteemed reputation, recognized as one of the most prolific Danish artisans, so much so that his name is often uttered by young pipe makers as a pivotal influence. This offering from Tom Eltang is named after famous Danish architect Arne Jacobsen — known for his work in the school of architectural Functionalism and innovative furniture designs, like his iconic egg chair. Jacobsen was also an avid pipe smoker, commonly using a slender, arrow-straight Dublin much like this particular rendition, which embodies both Jabobsen's and Eltang's functional approach to design. Despite its lightweight stature, this Dublin possesses a deep tobacco chamber ideal for longer sessions. Out back, an arrow-straight shank stem arrangement emerges from the bowl and adds a touch of harmonious balance to the overall form. The stummel wears Eltang's signature rustication with the rim left smooth for tactile contrast.
