Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation: Dark Porter (1931)
Product Number: 002-787-0156
Named for the Virginia-Burley flake inspired by those favored by Erik Stokkebye's father, this "1931" bent Apple is plump and forward-ebbing of bowl, making for a substantial feel in hand and a touch of implied forward motion. Like its namesake mixture, it's superbly balanced, with its plump bowl commanding the majority of visual weight, countered in profile by the proportionally trim, trailing shank and stem. The extra dark yet subtle sandblast provides some wonderful texture in hand while giving the piece a rather classy presentation.-Truett Smith
