Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation: Fathers, Friends and Fire 2023 Sandblasted Tobacco Pipe

Founded in 2012, Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation presents a variety of pipes across many finishes to accompany their portfolio of discerning pipe tobaccos, with both the blends and the pipes often named for significant dates in the Stokkebye family's history. The Danish marque's Fathers, Friends, and Fire series is a line that celebrates fathers around the world, itself a limited edition series made to commemorate Father's Day. For 2023, this series is defined by a robust, hearty Rhodesian reminiscent of the Bullmoose, with plenty of thickness throughout its build. Up front, the pipe presents with a full-bodied Bulldog bowl that's rich with curvature, flaring out of its rounded heel to reach a high-set waist marked by a pair of beadlines. From these beadlines, the bowl tapers to an inward-sloping rim, the rounded walls below offering a comfortable feel in hand. A wide transition leads to a lifting stretch of hearty shank that tapers gently into a demurely curved mouthpiece, the combination lending the pipe a comfortable smoking posture. The series comes in both sandblasted and smooth finishes, with the sandblasted pieces, such as this one, complete with a black stain and vibrant, orange-hued stem.
