Flávia Rodrigues: Sandblasted Liverpool with Jabuticaba Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-839-0013

Flávia Rodrigues' ability to take classic shapes and re-imagine them through her use of phenomenal finishing techniques, expert engineering, and vivid color palettes is truly remarkable. The Brazilian artisan adds another striking, thoroughly traditional piece to her portfolio with this Liverpool offering, with all of those aforementioned characteristics on proud display. The Liverpool is closely related to the Lovat shape but instead of a saddle stem, the Liverpool utilizes a tapered mouthpiece which serves to continue the lines of the shank. It's a small change but one that makes a significant difference, with the tapered stem visually seeming more a part of the stummel whereas a saddle stem directs attention toward the bowl. And the bowl certainly deserves all the attention due to its classical rendering and the stellar sandblast it wears. Beautifully defined rings of grain climb the bowl's flanks, made even more impressive by the warm, tan contrast stain. An accent band of jabuticaba graces the shank end, pairing handsomely with the stummel's hue while contrasting the pale, swirling green tones of the vulcanite stem.
