This is one absolutely breathtaking Calla Lily from the brilliant Russian-American pipe maker Alex Florov. The Calla Lily, one of Alex's numerous, highly original, and certainly distinctive signature shapes blends elements of the sweeping, explosive incline of the modern Dublin shape and a surgically sharp, undulating rim, along the look and lines of the Danish influenced Horn. The result is a highly organic appearing, exceptionally fluid briar shape evocative of the exotic African flower. Here, Alex shows off his impeccable skill as a carver and craftsman by seamlessly 'piercing' the bud with a beautifully crafted spear, a magnificent addition to the piece that sets upon its own the superlatively executed, and handsomely grained bowl. This is simply delightful work from the pipe maker.
