Former: Smooth Bent Apple with Horn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-017-0299
Bent Apples from Hans "Former" Nielsen are far less common than their straight counterparts, though this one strikes a particularly stunning profile. It is a remarkable piece of linework, its bowl softly plumped below the rim, tapering ever-so-slightly as the eye follows it upward, while the transition is of the softer, less-defined variety. The shank kicks upward in a line smoother and less jaunty than some other renditions, a rounded accent of horn giving some softness to the shank-end below the stem's base. From every side, it's an example of Former's ability to carefully address a shape, creating a piece that is as functional as it is beautiful, and one that tucks quite neatly into the palm.
