Former: Smooth Bent Apple Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-017-0459
Boasting decades of experience in the craft, Hans "Former" Nielsen has rightfully earned his place as one of the premier artisans in not just Denmark, but the world at large. He cut his teeth, for ten years, in the legendary W.Ø. Larsen workshop, where he oversaw and worked with the likes of Teddy Knudsen, Tonni Nielsen, and Jess Chonowitsch. During this time, he honed his sense of not just what was aesthetically pleasing about a particular piece, but how well it functioned and smoked.
This bent Apple showcases Former's eye for precise lines, supple curves, and balanced proportions. A plump, full-bodied bowl stands at the pipe's fore, its thick walls taking on an arcing taper that rounds out the chamber's frame and cultivates a comfortable in-hand presence. A dimpled transition follows the bowl and marks the start of a trim shank that flares upward to the shoulders of a demurely curved saddle stem. The mouthpiece's subtle curve completes the flow of the stummel's underside, fostering a sense of visual unity across the totality of the form. Dressed in a dark, smoky smooth finish, the stummel here offers a wealth of attractive flame grain and birdseye.
