Former: Sandblasted Pot with Horn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-017-0469
Incredibly influential within the Danish pipe making world, Hans "Former" Nielsen has been producing gorgeous pieces for over 60 years. Today, his pipes are known for their detailed line work, elegant designs, and functionalism. All of those traits are depicted within this sandblasted Pot from Former, displaying an amalgamation of textures, hues, and materials that make this pipe a truly unique piece. Up front, the bowl is plump as its walls rise and taper inward from a broad heel to a subtly rounded rim. The transition lends ample room to wrap the thumb as it gives way to an abbreviated shank, one that quickly meets a thin vulcanite accent before connecting to a base made of horn. More inky vulcanite brings up the rear as the stylized stem protrudes from the aforementioned horn base and slenderizes to the button, completing the pipe's silhouette. The dark pigment of the mouthpiece pairs well to both the lighter hues of the horn and the mahogany-stained stummel, where growth rings provide ample texture, save for the rim, which is finished smooth.
