Frank Axmacher: Sandblasted Freehand Sitter with Bamboo Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-815-0006
Frank Axmacher's work comes with some visual tricks at times, with this sitter giving off quite the sleek, trim profile. From above, however, the bowl's flanks are quite pronounced, creating an almond-shaped figure that fills the hand splendidly. Finished with a subtle sandblast, that hand-filling nature allows every inch of it to be enjoyed, while his red-hued stain is complemented by the lighter hues of two knuckles of bamboo shank extension, upward-thrust, with a crisp checkmark-like line to the transition. It's a shape that shows some delicate artistry, particularly for one that sits so steadily when resting on a flat surface.
