Gabriele: Sandblasted Billiard with Bamboo

Opposite his highly organic freehands, on the other end of Gabriele's shaping scale we find pieces like this; quietly beautiful briars of obvious classic Danish influence. The poised, easy profile of the bowl and its delicate transition is obvious, but he also stays true to the Danish shaping cue of lending a little extra meat to the bowls "hips", as well as executing his bamboo with the mortise and tenon at the far end, rather than at the base of the briar as most Italian pipemakers do.
