Geiger: Smooth Bohemian Dubliner
Product Number: 002-564-0029
A lively, playful take on the old Dublin shape, Sara Mossberg and Love Geiger's signature Bohemian Dubliner is characterized by a careful balance of asymmetry and fluid linework. The smooth curl of the underside extends from the rim's pronounced bevel all the way to the end of the upward-flicking shank, working to guide the eye seamlessly from end to end. The backwards cant of the sloped rim, as well as a slight lip along the aft, works with that fluid gesture to imply a strong degree of forward momentum in profile, the form seemingly propelling itself forward at great speed. Further complexity enters the scene when viewed head on, where you'll notice the Swedish duo's touch of asymmetry, the bevel of the rim coming up higher along the right flank than the left. It all works beautifully together, with each wandering ridge and soft curve not only aiding in the overall flow of the composition, but providing wandering fingers a bit of tactile enjoyment as well. As an added plus for this particular example, Sara and Love have finished the briar itself in a light natural stain, allowing the block's finely stranded flame and birdseye to stand out while keeping the palette light and airy to emphasize all that aforementioned linework.
