Geiger: Smooth Acorn with Mammoth (Yggdrasil) Tobacco Pipe

A design that's similar to this Fig On a Branch that we previously saw from Sara Mossberg and Love Geiger, this Acorn displays a broad-waisted, rotund bowl that inflates out of a consistently curled shank. Said shank extends through the heel, coming to a subtle point at the fore in profile, the transition into the bowl occurring directly underneath as opposed the aft. Lenticular of cross section, the shank is marked by ridgelines down each flank, each connecting at the extended fore and creating a smooth underside that's reminiscent of the Volcano's distinct separation of bowl and heel. It's a piece imbued with a hearty sense of proportions, yet one that remains incredibly dynamic in profile through the bowl's forward cant and the shank's sudden, upward flick into the slightly down turned stem. At the shank end, the Swedish duo have accented the color palette with a stunning section of stabilized mammoth, the cream-and-blue hues of the material standing out against the stummel's vivid, mahogany contrast stain. This is only the second Yggdrasil piece we've received from Geiger — it's their highest grade, named for Norse mythology's cosmological tree — and it's no surprise, as evidenced by the absolutely perfect combination of straight grain and birdseye.
