Glenn Tinsky: Carved Poker Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-915-0031
The son of prolific American artisan Mark Tinsky, Glenn Tinsky continues his family's pipe-making tradition and establishes a new legacy name in the craft. Though his father's work had an influence on Glenn at a young age, with Glenn having even crafted some pipes in his teenage years, it wasn't until much later in life that the younger Tinsky decided to transition to pipe making full-time. He spent 17 years in the restaurant industry before deciding he needed a change, and once restaurants closed due to Covid-19 protocols, Glenn found the perfect opportunity to fully devote himself to pipe making. As a pipe maker, Glenn takes inspiration from his father while incorporating aspects from the Danish school, resulting in designs that are both unique and elegant in their construction. This Poker is fetching example of Glenn's style and is part of his budget-friendly line of pipes, presenting a tall, muscular bowl set to a sleek stretch of shank and stem. The bowl's flat heel enables the entire composition to sit sturdily without the aid of a stand, while the shank-and-stem arrangement's arrow-straight trajectory keeps the overall form streamlined and minimalist in profile. A dimpled, carved finish and a red stain dress the stummel and offer a wealth of visual and tactile detail for the eyes and fingers to admire.
