This Tomato is another stellar example of Peter Heding's deft ability to seemingly pack as much substance and dynamism as humanly possible into an undeniably compact form. Here, however, he's achieved this with a piece defined by its geometric contrast of outright plumpness with something a little more architectural and structured in the way of the crisply-flared shank. Said shank terminates in a lighter-colored boxwood mount, offering a satisfying contrast to the darker, smokier tones finishing the majority of the composition.
