Peter Heding: Smooth Dublin with Horn
Product Number: 002-362-0261
Not only is this sleek Dublin shape a departure from Peter Heding's more natural-esque, overtly organic fare; it's rather distinct from other understated renditions of the form I've encountered from the carver. Indeed, compared to his Dubliner and other straight Dublin iterations, this forward-rushing, streamlined fellow is quite a bit more in the realm of Danish classic, with perhaps a touch of firmness at the heel compared to the typical lifting treatment. As for the finish, Peter opted for a smart reverse cross-cut, with streaks of grain dancing across the rim and birdseye at the aft and fore, all highlighted by a dark walnut contrast. There's a touch of flare to the creamy horn mount, serving to aid in directing the eye's attention to the long saddle stem. A lovely piece.- Daniel Bumgardner
