This Volcano pipe exemplifies his masterful approach, blending technical expertise with a discerning eye for grain that highlights the briar's natural beauty. The bowl rises from a broad, descending base, tapering upward in a dramatic arc that accentuates its lifted heel. A crisp ridgeline encircles the form, uniting the bowl and shank with a cohesive undercurvature. An arched shank emerges to counterbalance the bowl's visual weight, flaring into a black vulcanite saddle stem. The transition is marked by an asymmetrical, domed shank face — offering a striking contrast to the bowl's clean structural lines. Excellent grain is on full display here: flame grain wraps fluidly around the bowl's flanks, while the underside reveals a sea of swirling birdseye.
