IMP Meerschaum: Lattice Dublin with Silver (with Case) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-316-4206
IMP Meerschaum is more than adept in crafting classic forms, and these timeless designs make up the vast majority of their portfolio. However, they have crafted precious few straight Dublins, and only a handful of these have been adorned with lattice carvings, making this particular piece quite a rarity among their offerings. The shank and stem here are fairly long, extending the length of this pipe to more than six inches, and upholds a tall, large bowl over two inches tall, which showcases thick walls and holds a capacious chamber. The stem is a stylized black saddle which is adorned with two bulbous expansion rings at its base for some extra flair, and is married to the shank at a broad band of silver at the junction. The transition is quite wide, canting the bowl forward a good bit, and the bowl it leads to features a fairly subtle flare from the heel to the rim, with the rim itself possessed of a smooth curvature and domed look similar to the Acorn shape, as well as three beadlines near the midsection. Dressing the meerschaum here is a lovely lattice carving, with inverted teardrops across much of the bowl that are surrounded by stippled circular carvings which amplify the texture, the entirety making for a wonderful canvass for patination.
