IMP Meerschaum: Carved Coloring Bowl (with Case) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-316-4283
Coloring bowls have been around for at least 150 years and are used to distribute the heat and smoke of the tobacco for even coloring of meerschaum pipes. The cork liner inserts into the bowl of the pipe, and that bowl then experiences only smoke that has already cooled to a large degree. The use of a coloring bowl helps reduce the extra coloring often found at the transition of shank and stem, while increasing the color taken on by those sections more often late to color. This particular bowl from IMP is marked by two beadlines through the middle for a handsome style of subtle visual texture.
