I'll admit that when I saw the photos of this pipe (but before I saw the pipe itself, in person) I was expecting something much smaller. The reason for that is the relative proportions, which are charming in that certain way that is usually accompanied by a pocket-sized scale. Well, I wouldn't try to stick this ring-grained and birdseye-speckled briar in a jacket pocket, but I can't say that takes away anything from its rather endearing profile. Aside from the illusion of smallness, this Jared Coles creation also pulls off another neat trick: it sits, and sits quite well, rolled a way to its left yet very stable, despite being a very strongly asymmetric design (and one with a rounded underside at that).
