Jared Coles: Smooth Bent Apple with Horn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-738-0070
While Jared Coles draws inspiration from many design schools, I see a lot of Danish in this diminutive bent Apple. It presents a lifted heel, soft transition, slightly inflated rim, discrete spur on the underside, and an abbreviated, flared shank, all working in concert to achieve a quite organic aesthetic. The grain leaps in tight striations from the aforementioned spur, sweeping upward and forward in a unique design that leaves flame grain on the bowl's aft, lower flanks, and heel, while presenting a dense field of birdseye along the front upper aspect. The shape is clearly a product of Jared's skill in reading the briar block and obedience to the grain found within, and a joy to look at. It's dressed in a warm chestnut stain and smooth finish for a classic appeal that makes the grain unmissable, and is further accented by a genuine horn accent with an inlaid gold-colored ring. With light weight and pocket-friendly dimensions, this little beauty is just begging to be taken places and will be a loyal companion fit for any occasion.
