Jared Coles: Smooth Apple with Horn Tobacco Pipe

I see a lot of Danish influence in Jared Coles' portfolio, as he often incorporates design cues from the likes of Lars Ivarsson and Jess Chonowitsch in his designs, and this Nosewarmer Apple certainly upholds that penchant. Jared has made the design his own though, with a compact, bowl-centric rendition that fills the palm with delightful details and is broad enough to balance on its rounded heel.

This particular iteration was crafted specifically for our 7th annual American Pipe Making Exposition, incorporating the special theme of accent stems into its composition. For this year's entry, Coles has crafted a striking split stem, with jet-black vulcanite surrounding a center element of pale horn for a truly bespoke aesthetic.

The stummel is no less impressive, with a robust height of two inches and a nearly match diameter, offering plenty of capacity for your favorite blend and a wealth flame grain and dense birdseye to admire. Inflated at the rim, with distinct cheeks and an abbreviated, oval shank, it manages a commanding in-hand presence while keeping the overall length in Nosewarmer dimensions. A charming piece, made stunning by a smooth finish, it tops everything off with a circular horn inlay at the rim, an exclamation point on an exceptional pipe that combines cohesively with the stem.
