Jared Coles: Partially Sandblasted Cherrywood with Lemonwood Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-738-0080
An American pipe artisan, Jared Coles started his pipe-making career in tandem when he founded J&J pipes with his good friend and talented pipe maker John Klose. The two have since struck out on their own, and Jared now produces fine pieces under his own name. This Cherrywood offers a very bent Dublin-like profile, with a widely flaring bowl, organic, undulating rim, and gently curling shank. The heel has been flattened a bit to allow the pipe to sit, and the transition is ever-so-slightly raised, giving the pipe a Cherrywood shape.
A dark contrast stain and impeccable sandblast dress the stummel, giving rise to rippling growth rings climbing the bowl, while the rim is smooth and lighter, and contrasted by a kiss of natural plateau. Jared takes a lot of time precisely shaping his mouthpieces, and this example is a bespoke split stem with jet black vulcanite erupting effortlessly from a base of lemonwood. An elegant and highly organic piece that will add a note of handcrafted luxury to any discerning collector's rotation.
