Jared Coles: Smooth Bent Dublin with Juma Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-738-0098
Jared Coles began making pipes during college, quickly becoming enamored with the craft. Since then, he has honed his craft over the years, working with masters such as Jeff Gracik and Todd Johnson. Coles draws inspiration from the Japanese and Danish schools of pipe design, creating a unique aesthetic all his own. This bent Dublin is a fine example of the American artisan's work, featuring a smoothly curved silhouette with a sleek, seamless transition to a broad-flared bowl crowned with craggy plateau. Said bowl is lent a sense of forward momentum by its asymmetrical, slightly pointed rim. The bowl likewise creates a smooth undercurve through the transition, contrasted by raised ridges that run from the bowl, through to the shank face, beginning at the flanks, as well as the bowl's aft side. These deftly rendered lines add a touch of structure to the piece, drawing the eye gently across the silhouette. The shank culminates in a second plateau section, joining a slightly bent vulcanite stem accented with high quality Supertusk Juma, figured to display an ivory-like pattern in man-made form. Dressed in a rich, high-contrast, walnut finish, the stummel boasts excellent flame grain around the bowl, handsomely contrasted by the darkened plateau and pale Juma.
