Jared Coles: Sandblasted Skating Nefertiti Tobacco Pipe

Drawing inspiration from Danish and North American traditions, Jared Coles fashions superbly engineered briars that showcase their maker's mastery of line, with this "Skating" Nefertiti being one such example of said mastery. Originally pioneered by Sixteen Ivarsson, the Nefertiti is named in honor of one of Ancient Egypt's queens and boasts an outline reminiscent of the famed bust of Nefertiti. Essentially a more dynamic take on the Dublin shape, the Nefertiti is defined by its unique bowl, which possesses a subtle upward flare and a steeply slanted rim that rises higher at the aft than the fore. This particular "Skating" rendition from Coles sees the shape's signature bowl paired to an angular transition and an upturned shank-and-stem arrangement, the latter of which visually continues the rearward trajectory of the rim. Coles has dressed this piece in a crisp, mahogany sandblast, save for the rim, which is left smooth for contrast.
