Kai Nielsen: Smooth Bent Dublin (Jewel of Denmark) (D) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-137-0091

The "Jewel of Denmark" stamp distinguishes Kai Nielsen's best work, descending in grade from D to A, and this particular D-grade bent Dublin is an excellent example of the lifelong artisan's unique variation on the classic Danish style. Featuring an asymmetrically flared rim, the bowl's walls taper down to a raised heel and long undercurve that flows organically through to the stem. A semi-oval shank turns up to meet the vulcanite half saddle stem, accented with bone at the conjunction. Dressed in a rich auburn stain, the stummel boasts fine flame grain around the bowl, with a crown of birdseye at the rim and matching that runs up the shank.
