As the son of Viggo Nielsen, founder of the Bari pipe factory, Kai Nielsen was naturally predisposed to take up the craft of pipe making. His years of experience and distinctive style are well-represented by this Bulldog, which measures less than five inches in total length but otherwise retains the form's muscular character. Shape-wise, this piece features a pert, upright bowl that stands proudly at the fore of a diamond shank and a tapered stem. The shank's architectural lines add a rigid structure to the pipe's silhouette and offer some pleasing visual contrast to the bowl's rounded contours. A handsome ruby stain dresses the stummel and highlights a fetching display of flame grain about the bowl, adding further spectacle to this stylish piece.
