Kai Nielsen: Smooth Paneled Bent Dublin (Jewel of Denmark) (B) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-137-0154
The "Jewel of Denmark" stamp distinguishes Kai Nielsen's best work, descending in grade from D to A, and this particular D-grade bent Dublin is an excellent example of the lifelong artisan's unique variation on the classic Danish style. Featuring a compressed, oval-shaped, and flaring rim, the bowl's walls taper down to a raised heel and long undercurve that flows organically through to the stem. A semi-oval shank turns up to meet the cumberland-hued acrylic half saddle stem, accented with a band of white at the conjunction. Dressed in a rich auburn stain, the stummel boasts fine flame grain around the bowl, with a crown of birdseye at the rim and matching grain that runs beneath the shank.
