Kai Nielsen: Smooth Bent Dublin (Jewel of Denmark) (B) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-137-0181
Kai Nielsen is the son of Viggo Nielsen, the founder of the Bari pipe factory. As one might expect, Kai Nielsen got an early start in pipe making, working for his father as a teenager and eventually joining Bari full-time at the age of 21. This bent Dublin deftly showcases Nielsen's distinctive shaping style, which tends to marry gestural curves with rigid, geometric lines. Though it bears a striking resemblance to the Bulldog shape, possessing a beadline-wrapped bowl with a domed rim, this piece is differentiated by its shank, which is rectangular, with panels comprising all four of its sides. Sinuously bent for a comfortable smoking posture, this piece is dressed in a smoky smooth finish that highlights stunning grain throughout the stummel.
