Larry Roush's work tends toward shapes like this — classic ones, that is, with an emphasis on the bowl. A stout and tall Billiard with a whole lot of chamber, this piece is just a hint too long to count as "chubby" or "stubby," though the extra size just offers more space to show off his fantastic finishing techniques. Indeed, the stummel is dressed in a dark rendition of his infamous sandblast, which brings out some incredible grain, the dark hues highlighted by a band of sterling silver, and a stem of pale, yellow-hued Bakelite.
