Larry Roush: Sandblasted Dublin with Silver (S5) (2465) Tobacco Pipe

Larry Roush is known for his craggy, detailed finishes, and this Dublin is a beautiful example of that style. The broad bowl dominates the piece, offering with it not just thick chamber walls, but plenty of canvas on which to display grain — and it's done in stunning fashion, Larry's sandblasting technique bringing out all of the details that would otherwise be hidden in the piece. An unstained stummel, dressed only in a light wax goes further, making all of those details even more obvious, while providing a neutral tone to accent against a brindled vulcanite stem and sterling silver band. Even better, it's a piece that will continue to look good as it colors with time.
