Larry Roush: Partially Sandblasted Stack with Silver (S4) (2473)
Product Number: 002-830-0015
Larry Roush doesn't seem to do compact or delicate. No, the carver favors designs bold and brash, and even his takes on the classics often seem to exude a similar sense of powerful character to this Stack shape here. Larry's no slouch when it comes to briar selection either, and likewise sandblasted finishes, of course. The American carver's skill at the blasting cabinet is marvelously on display with this tall-bowled fellow, with a concentric display spread of ultra-tight ring-grain climbing all flanks of the briar. This allows for plenty of texture about the form to stimulate the fingers, and the sort that's quite visually subtle and doesn't interrupt the precise shaping of the form itself. Adorned with a band of sterling silver, this smoker is primed for a collection packed with hearty classics.- Daniel Bumgardner
