Larry Roush: Partially Sandblasted Dublin with Silver (S4) (2482)

Product Number: 002-830-0020

For well over a decade, Larry Roush has been sitting on a batch of old-stock briar unsure throughout the years exactly how he should use the vintage blocks. His respect and appreciation for classic, factory-made French and English pipe chart standards eventually inspired the American artisan to fashion these three pieces offered in today's update. Both out of homage to the prestigious marques of old and due to the old-stock blocks being of a smaller size, these new Roush pipes are a bit smaller of stature than Larry's typical fare, making them rarely seen sizes within his portfolio and all the more collectible.

Presented here is a straight, upright Dublin, conservative of flare and posing a traditional English aesthetic. It's about a Group 4 size and is impressively lightweight, while still being imbued with a considerable amount of muscularity, particularly in its robust insulating walls. Though smaller of proportions than Larry's other pieces, this is still easily recognized as the work of Roush — the sandblast deftly executed and full of ring grain, while the dark stain contrasts against the ruby-tinged, smooth polished rim and matching cumberland stem, all accented with a trim ring of sterling silver that testifies to Larry's expert metallurgy skill.
