Larry Roush: Rusticated & Sandblasted Billiard with Silver (L2) (2508)
Product Number: 002-830-0027
Elegant sterling silver accents of different styles dominate Larry Roush's work. That's how he started, as a jeweler adding precious metal accents to his own collection of pipes. When he began making pipes under his own brand, his jeweler's background met his love for pipes and virtually all of his pieces have silver or gold on them, like this remarkable Billiard.
The finish is Larry's combination of rustication and sandblasting, for which he sandblasts the surface after rustication. As you may suspect, this piece is a firm sitter, its broad base easily balancing the form. Most Roush pipes feature a dramatically tapering shank and stem configuration, but this piece is that rare submission with a cylindrical shank. The tapered stem is beautifully patterned with swoops of cream through the black vulcanite mouthpiece. It's a large pipe, with plenty of insulation and irresistible texture for wandering fingers.- Chuck Stanion
