Gregor Lobnik: Partially Sandblasted Tomato Apple with Boxwood

Product Number: 002-357-0093

While long-shanked compositions are nothing rare for Lobnik, Tomatoes seem to be another matter — oddly enough considering this is a shape we've only seen him do as a long-shanked design. The last time we saw one of these? 2013. And before that, 2012. He's made some changes in that time, the older example having had a Pot-like bowl form, the 2013 rendition having a pronounced mid-bowl to rim taper, like a very squat Brandy, and this one coming closest to a classic Tomato — albeit with a lifting transition that adds a bit of Acorn-ness to it. The shank, conversely, has actually gained taper, with a subtle flair as it proceeds towards the thin saddle stem and slender boxwood accent.
