Gregor Lobnik: Smooth Acorn with Horn
Product Number: 002-357-0097
Gregor Lobnik seems to prefer a softer degree of taper in his Acorn renditions, forgoing the typical spur or culminating point often found in this shape's canon. In this tight-knit piece, for example, he's positioned the waistline quite high along the bowl, allowing said taper to flow seamlessly into the fluid lines of the underside and sweeping transition. The resulting effect is perhaps more similar to a very high-perched Tomato than your average Acorn, with a much smoother, comfortable feel in hand. He's finished this one in a rich bengal contrast, covered in lively flame, and accented by a trim wafer of real horn along the shank end. Beautiful example of Gregor's unique style.
