Gregor Lobnik: Partially Sandblasted Bent Apple with Boxwood
Product Number: 002-357-0099
Gregor Lobnik really excels at designs like this, balancing a plump, softly rounded bowl with a firmer, more muscular style of shank — often with a very clear juxtaposition between the two (in both stance and finish). Here, for example, he's lent the more compact, bulbous bowl a light but well defined sandblast and subtly carved out the transition to visually separate bowl from shank — making for a delightful contrast of texture and grain between the two. Yet the composition still comes across as cohesive and balanced due to the uniformly warm contrast he's lent to the entire stummel. The result is a powerful composition and a beautiful exposition of both flame and ring grain.
