Mark Tinsky: Mocha Billiard with Red Palm Cap and Lacewood (4)

Product Number: 002-035-0122

Using two different accent materials can be a risky proposition; the coloration, pattern, and shade of a particular material may work well to complement the pipe itself, but including one introduces the complication of getting them to play well with each other, too. Here I'd say Mark Tinsky did a sound job, placing the darker, densely striped lacewood down low, at the end of the shank, and the lighter red palm up high at the rim. Keeping the two separate avoids them clashing with each other, and placing the darker below and the lighter above makes for a natural balance to the pipe's palette as a whole.
