Mark Tinsky: Natural Bent Apple (4)
Product Number: 002-035-0390
Quite a curious shape, this bent Apple from Mark Tinsky showcases the American carver's clear Italian roots, specifically the Pesaro school, along with a subtle Japanese cue as well. The tight-knit transition and flared style of shank call to mind many Fugu Blowfish renditions, while the bowl remains stout and neoclassical in style — with an intriguing Cutty-like foot just beneath the transition. The result might be hard to pigeonhole into a certain shape class, but it is quite natural in hand and well-suited to hanging from the jaw.- Andrew Wike
