Mark Tinsky: Root Calabash with Snake Wood (4)

Product Number: 002-035-0737

A relatively trim, Cauldron-like interpretation of the Calabash, this Root-finished piece from Mark Tinsky features a rim of snake wood, which is an exotic hardwood with grain resembling the scales of a reptile. it's a nice flourish for this upright bowl, which is cross-grain oriented for particularly wide swaths of birdseye. Balance is excellent thanks to the soft downturn of the tapered stem, and it's profoundly comfortable in hand and less likely to slip out of one's fingers.
