Mark Tinsky: Pristine Paneled Bent Dublin with Bocote (5)
Product Number: 002-035-0799
With a dramatically flared bowl, domed rim, paneled sides, and diamond shank, this bent Dublin from Mark Tinsky shows the American carver's creativity and excellent line work. The paneled sides do well to display striking flame grain on the flanks and a field of birdseye on the soft rim, the patterns brought alive by a light auburn stain and smooth finish. The Bulldog-like shank kicks upward with a lively motion and is crowned by an accent of darker bocote for contrast. Well bent for a comfortable smoking posture, a saddle stem of jet-black acrylic balances the visual and physical weight of the stummel, completing an aesthetic that is both classic and innovative.- Joel Balyeat
