Glenn Tinsky, son of famous carver Mark Tinsky, grew up in his father's workshop but didn't start making pipes till a few years ago, which is a testament to this Rhodesian's masterful execution and deft finishing work. Shape-wise, it's a stocky rendition of the pipe-chart standard, complete with the form's wrapping beadlines and gently tapered rim. The bowl fills the hand with its thick insulating walls, and it's nicely balanced, proportionally, by the shank-and-stem arrangement that flares out back. It's all presented in a warm, auburn-hued smooth finish, which highlights tight strands of flame grain around the flanks of the bowl.
