Mark Tinsky: Root Bent Dublin (B) (Two Star) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-035-1027
Quite the dynamic take on the bent Dublin, this piece from Mark Tinsky features a tall, flaring bowl that cants dramatically at the fore of a gently upturned shank and a demurely curved mouthpiece. The bowl's forward drive lends the overall form an active stance that's accentuated by the shank-and-stem arrangement's fluid curvature, creating a well-balanced composition that maintains the bowl as a focal point while ensuring the aft is not ignored. At more than six and a half inches long, this is quite the large pipe, and the tobacco chamber held within the bowl reflects this, with plenty of capacity to allow for lengthy smoking sessions. The blonde hues of the Root smooth finish dress the stummel and showcase a lovely pattern of flame grain striations flickering around the flanks of the bowl, earning it a two-star grade from the carver.--Davin Hylton
