Mark Tinsky: Bengal Bent Billiard Christmas 2022 (Two Star) Tobacco Pipe

Every year since 1983, Montana-based carver Mark Tinsky has celebrated the holiday season with an annual Christmas release. Each yearly release is defined by a single distinctive shape rendered across a myriad of different finishes and mediums. For 2022, Tinsky has fashioned an eye-catching bent Billiard that finds a tall, forward-canted bowl rising at the the fore of an upturned shank and a demurely curved tapered stem. The shank appears as a crisp diamond in cross-section and displays firm ridgelines that sharpen the overall form's silhouette and offer some pleasing contrast to the bowl's subtle curves. The bowl houses a good bit of chamber within its thick walls, and its gently chamfered rim should aid in the loading of a favored blend. This particular Billiard is presented in the striking Bengal smooth finish, which highlights a stunning showing of grain across the flanks of the bowl.
