Mastro Geppetto: Liscia Acorn with Silver (2) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-819-1191
Giancarlo Guidi founded Ser Jacopo in 1982, building a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Mastro Geppetto is Ser Jacopo's sub-brand of more accessibly priced pipes that still maintain a high-quality of workmanship. Crafted in the Ser Jacopo workshop, these pieces embody the playful Pesaro style of their pricier counterparts, with this Acorn being an excellent example. A wide transition here gives way to a tapering shank that meets a sleek, lengthy saddle stem of black acrylic, the junction here marked by a trim band of silver. Up front, the bowl maintains the majority of the visual weight as it stands atop a firm, spurred heel, its plump walls taking on a touch of flare out toward a mid-set waistline. Comfortable in the hand and possessed of a very subtle curvature through the shank and stem, this pipe is dressed in a warm, smooth finish and showcases handsome grain.-John McElheny
