Mastro Geppetto: Liscia Paneled Billiard (3) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-819-1329
Giancarlo Guidi founded Ser Jacopo in 1982, building a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Mastro Geppetto is Ser Jacopo's sub-brand of more accessibly priced pipes that still maintain a high-quality of workmanship. Crafted in the Ser Jacopo workshop, these pieces embody the playful Pesaro style of their pricier counterparts, with this paneled Billiard being an excellent example. The shank and stem here capture one's attention immediately thanks to their lengthy, tapering expanse, the stretched combination doing well to balance the bowl and pushing this pipe's length to seven inches. Said bowl sits at the fore atop a very slightly lifted heel, growing tall walls with a gentle bit of taper to the rim, all while being rounded by five panels through the fore and flanks, while the aft wall remains rounded. The stummel's light, honeyed stain reveals a wealth of handsome grain throughout, while the amber tones of the stem offer some contrast.
