Mastro Geppetto: Sabbiato Rhodesian Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-819-1440

Giancarlo Guidi founded Ser Jacopo in 1982, building a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Mastro Geppetto is Ser Jacopo's sub-brand of more accessibly priced pipes that still maintain a high quality of workmanship. Crafted in the Ser Jacopo workshop, these pieces embody the playful Pesaro style of their pricier counterparts, with this Rhodesian being a good example. The bowl here immediately stands out as the visual center of this pipe, standing atop a rounded, pronounced heel and growing thick walls that flare out to a high-set waist marked by a single beadline. This beadline additionally denotes the form's iconic taper to the rim, and its hefty form is balanced well by a high-kicking shank and stem combination. The transition is tight, and it gives way to a tapering shank that lifts to meet a similarly tapering stem of warm cumberland-toned acrylic. Dressed in an earthy sandblast, the stummel showcases handsome grain throughout, its hues complemented well by the stem.
