Mastro Geppetto: Rusticato Canadian Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-819-1498
Giancarlo Guidi founded Ser Jacopo in 1982, building a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Mastro Geppetto is Ser Jacopo's sub-brand of more accessibly priced pipes that still maintain a high quality of workmanship. Crafted in the Ser Jacopo workshop, these pieces embody the playful Pesaro style of their pricier counterparts, with this Canadian being a good example. This is a fairly timeless example of the shape, with an extended, ovoid shank that reaches out from a wide transition to meet a short, sleekly tapering stem of black acrylic. Though the shank is extended, the overall reach of this pipe is just a touch over five and a half inches long, keeping it handy and maneuverable while maintaining an appreciably light weight. Up front, the bowl stands on a rounded heel and grows subtly rounded walls that rise with an understated taper to the rim, offering a comfortable feel in hand and plenty of space to display the stummel's craggy sandblast and earthy stain.
