Mastro Geppetto: Sabbiato Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-819-1501
Giancarlo Guidi founded Ser Jacopo in 1982, building a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Mastro Geppetto is Ser Jacopo's sub-brand of more accessibly priced pipes that still maintain a high quality of workmanship. Crafted in the Ser Jacopo workshop, these pieces embody the playful Pesaro style of their pricier counterparts. This bent Dublin is a striking piece from the brand, with a bowl that sits on a rounded heel and flares out to a broad rim. The bowl isn't quite shaped like a normal Dublin's, however as it pinches near the middle and flares out at the rim, creating an Hourglass-like look. The transition is tight and gives way to a thick shank that tapers toward a smartly curved stem of similarly tapering red-and-white acrylic, the combination taking on an Oom Paul-like smoking posture. Dressed in a crisp sandblast and an earthy stain, the stummel features plenty of texture and offers a wealth of handsome grain to appreciate.
