Mastro Geppetto: Liscia Poker (0) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-819-1505
Giancarlo Guidi founded Ser Jacopo in 1982, building a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Mastro Geppetto is Ser Jacopo's sub-brand of more accessibly priced pipes that still maintain a high quality of workmanship. Crafted in the Ser Jacopo workshop, these pieces embody the playful Pesaro style of their pricier counterparts, with this Poker being a good example. This is a rather stout take on the classic Poker shape, with an immediate focus on the presence of the bowl, here standing atop an angular heel that allows its cylindrical walls to cant forward dynamically. The transition is wide, and it gives way to a short, swiftly tapering shank that's met by an even more swiftly tapering stem of swirled black and amber acrylic, further emphasizing the bowl's presence. Said bowl holds a capacious chamber within its thick walls, and these walls leave plenty of space to showcase a dark, smoky stain that unveils streaks of flame grain on the left flank.
