Mastro Geppetto: Sabbiato Bent Billiard Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-819-1524
Giancarlo Guidi founded Ser Jacopo in 1982, building a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Mastro Geppetto is Ser Jacopo's sub-brand of more accessibly priced pipes that still maintain a high quality of workmanship. Crafted in the Ser Jacopo workshop, these pieces embody the playful Pesaro style of their pricier counterparts, with this bent Billiard being an excellent example. A thickly tubular and deeply bent shape, the tightly-knit transition of this bent Billiard gives way to a hearty, lifting shank that tapers toward a similarly tapering stem of smartly downturned acrylic in vibrant white tones. The gesture of this aft combination lends the pipe a comfortable smoking posture which is well-suited to jaw-hanging and does well to balance the bowl, boasting a stance similar to the Oom Paul. Said bowl sits atop a rounded heel and features a robust, cylindrical build, holding a capacious chamber within its tall walls and offering a reassuring presence in hand. Dressed in a crisp sandblast and earthy stain, the stummel offers plenty of handsome grain and a wealth of texture to appreciate.
